Kachhi ghani and cold pressed: what do they mean?

Common words deserve a careful explanation.
You may see “Kachhi Ghani” or “Cold Pressed” on a mustard-oil bottle. These terms are often associated with traditional or lower-heat pressing, but a picture of a wooden press does not by itself prove how one particular bottle was made.
The FSSAI compendium dated 4 November 2024 includes this mustard-oil condition: mustard oil may be labelled “Kachi Ghani” or “Cold Pressed” when its natural allyl isothiocyanate content is at least 0.20% by weight. This is a product-standard requirement, not proof that every machine ran at one fixed temperature.
Customers can read the exact label. A maker making such a claim should have records to support it. We will not say Shree Arnaa meets this condition without the relevant test evidence.
